Day 4 - Bruges to Berlin

Today is a big travel day so will be very short on dialogue as there isn’t much you can say about train journeys but I will be taking 3 trains to get to Berlin.  The first was at 10.10 am from Bruges to Brussels Midi which was complicated by the fact that Brussels Midi is also known as Brussels Food and Drink tour who were returning to the UK via Eurostar which they had to get at Brussels Midi.  We worked out between us that Brussels Zuid was indeed Brussels Midi and we all ended up in the right place for our international connections.

At Brussels I stocked up on the essentials - wine and a salad for the arduous journey ahead.  The next two trains I’ve had to sit with my backpack between my legs as neither have a luggage rack - what’s with that????  So I had to hem in the poor gentlemen sitting next me and god help them if they want to go for a wee.

I’m now on the last leg and will (hopefully) be arriving in Berlin in about an hour and a half - very little to do so thought I’d use the time to do this blog and I’ve got fed up with watching Homeland which keeps doing that wheely thing as the internet is really slow on this train.

Add more once in hostel.

OMG, the last place was 5 star in comparison to Stalag 13 where I am now, the prisoners on cell block H had better cells!  I was given a room on the 5th floor the furthest away from anywhere and you had to run before the light turned itself off.  Next door was a dorm full of 16 year olds (or at least they seemed it) who delighted in running up and down the hall way.  So, went down and asked for a change of room - poor Sasha on reception, I don’t think that’s ever happened before, still, he gave me a nice room on the 1st floor away from any other buggers but close to the essentials like toilet/showers and stairs.

The good thing about this place is that it’s close to all the historical sights and the spy museum is about a 5 minute walk away.

Double OMG - I forgot that being on the 1st floor you have people above, or rather a herd of elephants that giggle loudly!
